Maintenance
Back up, back up, back up!

There is nothing more frustrating than to have your hard drive crash and lose all the files you have created.  Your operating system can be restored, your programs can be reinstalled but the work you've created is gone.  Your letters, your mail, the pictures you've saved, your projects, gone!  Don't let this happen to you.

There are many ways to save your work.  Ideally you should back up your entire hard drive with a tape (or other type) backup system at regular intervals.  For saving individual files you can use a zip drive or a writeable CD or DVD if you have a CD-RW or DVD drive on your computer.  For more information on back up options click this link to an article from PC.com.

Internet
Organizing Favorites
As you surf the web you'll come across websites that you want to save to your 'Favorites' menu in Internet Explorer.  Over time this list can become really long.  It is quite easy to organize this menu into more manageable folders and sub folders.  Click 'Favorites' on your menu bar and then click 'Organize Favorites'.  From within this dialog box you can create new folders, rename others and move the website URL's you've bookmarked into the appropriate folder.  You can name folders anything you like.  Now you will be able to find websites and remember what they are much more easily.
Saving Pictures
It's very easy to save pictures you find on the internet.  Simply place your mouse over the picture you want to save.  Right click with your mouse.  A box with choices will pop up.  Scroll to the 'Save Picture As' entry and click.  A dialog box will appear where you can choose what folder to save the picture to and you can also rename the picture if you like.  Click 'Save' and the picture is now in the folder on your hard drive that you specified.  Many pictures and graphics are copywrited so be careful how you use them.
